   were not the ones killing innocent people with them and criminals obtain these firearms illegally anyways…so banning them would….only prevent law abiding citizens from getting them you uneducated fool….since when did criminals follow the law…compare the effectiveness of outlawing certain firearms to the effectiveness of outlawing certain drugs….or even booze during prohibition….making something illegal doesn’t stop criminals from doing it….it just enlarges the black market for them to further profit from while utterly shitting on the average citizens…..

   What exactly are you suggesting – that ordinary citizens should have their rights dictated to them by the government. Last I checked, ordinary citizens were the ones that should be dictating to the government where their power starts and stops. Not vice versa.

    I know this is an old posting but I have to say something. There is not a good reason for any person in the US, including law enforcement, to own a fully automatic weapon, a 50 cal hand gun or rifle, a RPG, or a dozen other things. These things should be outlawed to make them harder to obtain AND because since there is no justifiable real reason for a ordinary person to own it, then is should be a crime to do so. Since honest people follow the law and only criminals break it, if you own one of these illegal weapons then all of us AND law enforcement know you are a criminal and the appropriate actions should be taken. The only people who have a reason to own such weapons is the military and they can not by law be used for civil law enforcement so we should never see one of these big guns, ever.

    That is my opinion if you don’t like it I don’t care. If you do that is cool. I’ll tell you one more thing, I think that all guns except black powder and shotguns should have to be registered. You don’t need anything more than a 12 gauge pump for home protection, really, and if you want something more then the cops and the government should know you have it. Oh I might allow an exception for 22 caliber or smaller rifles and handguns.

    Need has nothing to do with anything. A law abiding citizen should be allowed to own anything he or she wants, then if they screw up, put them where they will never see sunshine again. why does someone need a car that will go 175 when the speed limit is 70. why does someone need a 5000 sq. ft. house when global energy is running out. why does a woman need 50 pairs of shoes. If a law abiding citizen wants something and has the money to obtain it, it’s nobody’s business but their’s.
    Big brother has no business regulating anything.
