But JamesF does bring up a point, it does take a lot to manufacture "alternative" sources of energy. But we need to realize this is the start and generally speaking, finding a new way to do something is inefficient in the beginning. Yet the hope is for efficiency in the future. It's like a business that sources manufacturing or labor. They spend a ton of money and logistics getting there with the hope the turnaround saves them in the end. Same idea with these panels. Yes, they are expensive. Yes, they are not as efficient as gas. But the idea is that gas we continually have to search for and exploit. Whereas "alternatives" we only need to gather once. These panels should be good for a longer time. So the electricity they generate will be cheaper over time. This is the hope. The other side of that hope is that technology improves along with it and these methods become more applicable.
